We have just had our Tourist Board Inspection and been given 100% for our cleaning, that’s 3 years in a row now. Our reviews always mention how clean the accommodation is so you have no worries coming here.
This is what the inspector wrote.
“Cleanliness/Housekeeping
Excellent standards of housekeeping and cleanliness noted throughout each property with close attention having been paid at both high and low levels. Hard flooring was noted to be polished and carpets thoroughly vacuumed. Surfaces and ledges in the dining and lounge areas were found to be dust free. Beds were beautifully presented with freshly laundered linen. Sanitary ware, fitting and fixtures were sparkling and fresh. Kitchen surfaces and equipment was found to be spotless. The owners are to be congratulated on the high standards that are maintained”
See you soon

I have just passed the show ground at Wadebridge and they have started to put the tents up for the show, not long now, it starts on Thursday 9th to Saturday 11th June and is well worth a visit.
Apart from it being the only time we get to see animals close up last year I even got to stroke an owl, there’s the usual dog show, flower tent, and lots of equestrian events in the main ring.
Also many other business all putting their best offers out for the show.
Might well see you there.

Why not come and join us for Mayday
May Day (or ‘Obby ‘Oss Day as it is known outside of Padstow) is the biggest day in Padstow’s calendar, it takes place annually on 1st May (2nd May if the 1st falls on a Sunday). There have been many conflicting theories about the origins of the Obby Oss. Some say its roots are in pagan times, others that it’s a rain maker or a fertility symbol. The Obby Oss proceeds through Padstow’s streets, swirling and dancing and accompanied by a Teazer, who leads the dance with theatrical movements and the use of the Teazer’s club, a leather pad colourfully painted and mounted on the end of a wooden rod. The Teazer’s accompanying retinue are dressed in white their costumes decorated with blue or red ribbons and sprays of cowlips and bluebells. As the procession moves around the town dancing to the sound of the accompanying accordion’s and drummers. Last, but not least, are the followers, young and old who follow the procession every year and join in the singing of the traditional May Song
Unite and unite and let us all unite, For summer is acome unto day, And whither we are going we will all unite, In the merry morning of May.
Arise up Mr. —- I know you well afine, For summer is acome unto day, You have a shilling in your purse and I wish it was in mine In the merry morning of May.
All out of your beds, For summer is acome unto day, Your chamber shall be strewed with the white rose and the red, In the merry morning of May.
Where are the young men that here now should dance, For summer is acome unto day, Some they are in England and some they are in France In the merry morning of May.

Today is St Piran’s Day, the national day of Cornwall, it’s held on the 5th of March every year. St Piran was the patron saint of tin miners, so he must have been very busy, the miners used it as a day’s holiday and we still use his flag, the white cross on a black background, as the Cornish flag today.

I know we shouldn’t talk about the weather but spring is here, according to the BBC weather on line, Padstow area is going to be 11c all day and all night all over the weekend, sounds like spring to me. Mind you we did have daffodils on the side of the roads here before Christmas but now we have acres of them and snowdrops even the bluebells are beginning to come up, it gives you energy just to see them.
We hope you can come and see our wonderful spring flowers and spend some time at Yellow Sands, Harlyn Bay, Padstow in Cornwall soon.
